NZEE Program Showcased at Bio-CO2 Use & Removal 2025 Conference
On May 6, Sumitomo SHI FW (SFW) participated in the Bio-CO2 Use & Removal 2025 conference in Helsinki, a premier event dedicated to the latest advancements in technological carbon removal and the innovative utilization of biogenic CO2.
The conference provided key insights into how these solutions can shape climate policy and outlined the crucial steps needed to translate them into real-world projects, such as SFW’s groundbreaking NZEE program.
With over 180 attendees gathered at Kulttuurikasarmi, the event broke records and was completely sold out, underscoring the growing momentum in the field. Hosted by the Bioenergy Association of Finland, which represents the nation’s bioenergy sector, the event featured SFW as a proud partner, reinforcing its commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions.
NZEE is a bold vision for the future
One of the conference’s highlights was the presentation by Stefan Nygård, NZEE Program Lead and Vice President of Strategy & Marketing at SFW, who discussed how SFW’s solutions enable customers to achieve ambitious decarbonization goals through cutting-edge technologies in Energy Generation, Carbon Capture, Sustainable Fuels, Energy Storage and Services.
For the first time, Stefan publicly unveiled the NZEE program roadmap, detailing how the initiative aims to solve the decarbonization challenge by fostering collaboration, developing breakthrough technologies, and seamlessly integrating them for targeted industries.
I was impressed to see such a high attendance at Bioenergia’s event. It shows how much interest and business potential there is in the energy transition. Such a radical transformation of the industry requires cross-collaboration between multiple businesses, industries and governments to ensure that technology, business models and regulations are aligned to create value for all stakeholders. This is at the heart of the Net Zero Energy Ecosystem that SFW is taking a front line in building.
